Finding Yourself With Paint

I was never really lost, at least I never thought I was lost. From the inside of my head I thought I was fine. Actually I am not sure I really looked at the inside of my head. Just putting one step in front of the other mostly because the box I was in seemed real and familiar. When I was young, part of me believed I was a bit of a rebel, unique in a sea of boring adults. But in truth, I just did what was expected, college, job, married, kids.

Then I found painting. No more box. The lights went on. I saw colors and shapes and fell in love with that world and again with all the world around me.

At the end of April, the 28th-30th, I want to encourage anyone who thinks they might want to see more in the world to join me. I will be teaching new artists, artists that know enough to be dangerous, artists that know they could do more or better, and artists who feel stuck. We are going to turn on some lights during those hours together. I promise.

The class size will be limited to no more than 12. You will be asked to do a little homework before you come so I can develop and plan for you. You will acquire new skills with your brushes and paint. And hopefully discover what it is that makes you want to pick them up and push through to the next level. We all have our own creative well inside. It’s there waiting to be tapped. Because each artist has a voice in one colorful choir. Finding your individual notes, strengths and inspiration is why we wanted the lights on in first place.

We will be gathering at a wonderful space in Nashville, Warehouse 521. It is the perfect place to fall in love or back in love with your creative life.
